Pain remains

Memories
Peeled away yet
The flesh beneath
Still throbbing
Pain remains

Ripped out like weeds
It withered and died
But earth remembers
Pain remains

These scars
Hardly noticeable
Not knowing who
or why
Pain remains

Body renewed many times over
Not the same flesh
Yet fingers trace the spot
Where hurt once lived
Pain remains

  1. Dearest Celestine I’m delighted to see you here! Thanks for your words. I got my inspiration after reading your lovely haiku for the Horizons prompt “Remember”. Life has been generous to us and we are all well. My device froze up when tried to comment on your page and I forgot to return.
