Hope

Hope is the thing with feathers
Quiet purr of a cat
Sitting on my lap without demands
Murmuring these unspoken words
“It will be OK”
and I believe him

Hope is the moon on a clear night
A cold rock suspended in the sky
even a sliver of her
ignites my heart
“Live” she says
and I believe her

This poem was inspired after reading Emily Dickinson‘s poem “Hope” is the thing with feathers.
