Nothing

The one who broke nothing
Built nothing
The one who lost nothing
Gained nothing
The one who mourned no one
Loved no one
The one who tried nothing
Learned nothing

Knowing this
Doing it
living it
That is something
The most important thing of all
Yet I still sit here
timid
Pondering
Wondering
yet nothing

  1. Parmis,
This poem of yours reminds me of the words of the ancient Chinese philosopher/poet, Lao tzu:

    “Empty and be full
    bend and be straight
    have little and gain
    have much and be confused”

You are thinking and writing deep water now. Keep at it. 🙂

    All the best,
    Alice

    1. This is lovely. Thanks so much!
I am hoping to internalize these verses and to live by them. Such soothing words couldn’t have come in a better time …

      1. Parmis,
Being a mom is harder than being a doctor. The hours are longer and the decisions are tougher. But being a mom to your children is SO much more important.

American culture devalues being a mom, caring for family and making a home. There’s not a lot of support for the important work you’re doing. There are a lot of currents that try to take family apart.

You’ll have to be extra courageous to hang in there with your family.
